The 2024 Ford Explorer will have the same personality and purpose as the previous year’s model. It will remain a midsize SUV featuring an interior with three rows of seats, offering plenty of room and comfort. As practical and powerful as ever, the 2024 Explorer will most likely receive nothing more than a handful of esthetic updates, considering that this is a mid-cycle model. There will still be several different versions to choose from.
The Ford Explorer comes with a range of proven internal combustion engines. In 2024, the 2.3 L inline-four turbo (300 hp) and two different 3.0 L V6 turbo engines (365 and 400 hp) will still be available, as well as the standard 10-speed automatic transmission. Options will also include a hybrid powertrain.
The big news is the arrival of the Ford Explorer EV, designed and manufactured in Germany. We can’t help but wonder if this all-electric vehicle, with its unique exterior characteristics and upscale avant-garde interior, might displace the conventional versions after 2024. In any case, since it’s fundamentally a different vehicle, we will devote a future article exclusively to it.
The overall look of the 2024 Explorer won’t undergo any drastic changes. However, the front end may get a few touch-ups, including a slightly modified grille. The bumper and headlights may also be updated, as we can’t rule out the possibility that they’ll now be closer in appearance to those found on the F-150. The same goes for the LED taillights. Some new exterior paint colors will probably join the lineup, as well, although it remains for Ford to confirm this, along with possible new rims and interior trim levels.
When it comes to onboard equipment, the 2024 Ford Explorer has no intention of lagging behind the competition. In particular, we can expect some upgrades in the electronics and instrument cluster, in addition to a new infotainment screen. Other luxury options could very well be on the menu too, for example, head-up display, which would enable drivers to keep their eyes on their surroundings while viewing important operational data.
