The 2024 Ford Bronco: a safe, powerful off-road vehicle

2024 Ford Bronco

The 2024 Ford Bronco will continue to delight fans of sport utility vehicles with an emphasis on utility, as well as fans of true all-terrain vehicles. With its vintage look, inspired by the early models (the Bronco first appeared on the market in 1966), this 4×4 is sure to be a hit, especially considering its performance, both on and off the road. Since 2021, the year of it most recent redesign, it has given such competitors as Jeep, Toyota and Land Rover a good run for their money.

For 2024, any changes will be minor. We can expect a few esthetic tweaks on various versions. For example, the Bronco Raptor will offer a Code Orange package featuring orange accents and graphics, particularly on the rear end and rear quarter windows. We’ll also see new body colors, such as Shelter Green and Velocity Blue. On some of the ten available versions, the 12-inch touchscreen will come standard, while the Everglades interior trim level will be back after taking a brief hiatus during the 2023 model year.

Mechanically solid

The 2024 Ford Bronco should still offer the option of removing the doors and roof (whether soft-top or hardtop) and storing them in the vehicle’s cargo area. In this regard, it offers a definite ergonomic advantage over the Wrangler. The Bronco also handles better on the road than its Jeep competitor. This is in addition to being more luxurious and comfortable.

Barring any indications to the contrary from Ford, the powertrains for the 2024 Ford Bronco should remain the same as those found in the 2023 models. Specifically, there would be a choice of three engines: a 2.3 L inline-four turbo (300 hp/325 lbf·ft), a 2.7 L twin-turbo V6 (330 hp/414 lbf·ft) and a 3.0 L V6 turbo (481 hp/440 lbf·ft). A 10-speed automatic transmission would come standard with the V6 engines, while a 7-speed manual transmission would come with the inline-four engine.

Is electrification in the cards for the Bronco? Maybe. Although Ford hasn’t made any official announcements, the automaker certainly hasn’t hidden its intentions, especially in light of the success of the Mustang Mach-E and the F-150 Lightning. Nevertheless, the Bronco probably won’t be available with a hybrid powertrain for at least two more years.

No fear out on the trails

When it comes to off-roading, the 2024 Ford Bronco promises to be proficient. This is especially thanks to an electronic transfer case (standard on the Raptor, Everglades, Wildtrak and Badlands versions), independent locking differential and stiffer anti-roll bars. Various suspension elements will also be available, as well as skid plates offering excellent undercarriage protection.
