The entry-level model of the esteemed Ford Maverick compact pickup with its internal combustion engine is a relatively affordable vehicle. So it should come as no surprise that there’s a very strong demand for it. Consequently, Ford is prioritizing the backlog of orders for the 2023 model.
It’s also important to bear in mind that the highly economical hybrid version of the Maverick, which is among the least expensive in its class, will be an option going forward, as the automaker has had difficulty keeping up with the high demand for this powertrain.
Therefore, given the popularity of the 2.0 L inline-four EcoBoost engine, Ford is now featuring it as standard equipment in the Maverick. This powertrain produces 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque.
In 2024, Canadian consumers will be able to opt for front-wheel drive with the turbo powertrain. Four-wheel drive will remain available, while the hybrid version will continue to be front-wheel drive.
For the 2024 model year, the Ford Maverick will only undergo a few minor changes, including two new colors (Terrain and Azure Grey). The body, the mechanical design and the equipment will remain the same.
However, there will be some modifications to the option packages. For example, the premium Lariat version will now include the luxury package (with a Bang & Olufsen sound system, a 400 W converter and navigation, among other features). For those who love off-roading, the Tremor package will still be available.
Ditto for the FLEXBED system. As a reminder, this system makes it possible to equip the bed of the Maverick with a number of solutions for optimizing use of the cargo space (for transport, storage, etc.). In fact, there are more than 150 available accessories for that purpose.
The cab of the 2024 Ford Maverick remains unchanged: modern and ergonomic. All the usual driver assist and safety features will be there as part of the Co-Pilot 360 suite of technologies. We’re talking about Automatic Emergency Braking, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, the Lane-Keeping System, Cross-Traffic Alert and more.
