We’ve had to wait, but the electric version of the popular Ford Transit commercial van will be here within the next few months.
The 2022 Ford E-Transit will offer a good number of the vehicle’s popular attributes, including different sizes for different clients, as well as the possibility of adapting the interior to suit a wide variety of needs and uses.
Most importantly, the 2022 Ford E-Transit will lose none of the vehicle’s power. On the contrary, it will be equipped with a single engine that can produce 266 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. A workhorse if ever there was one.
Ford never balks at the idea of giving us more. There will be eight models, all with the same powertrain. But there will be a choice of three different roof heights and three different lengths. In addition to chassis cab and cutaway models. And the low-roof cargo van will offer a range of more than 200 kilometers.
The E-Transit will charge up to a range of nearly 20 kilometers in an hour with a Level 2 charger or 60 kilometers in only 10 minutes with a Level 3 DC quick charger. Both options come with Ford’s standard mobile charger. Meanwhile, the available 2.4 kWh generator can supply power on the worksite or wherever else you might need it. It’s a wonderful thing!
Ford’s latest infotainment system, SYNC 4, comes standard on the E-Transit, along with a 12-inch touchscreen. It’s a big improvement over the 4-inch screen featured on the gasoline model.
The Ford E-Transit’s SYNC 4 system includes congenial features, such as Active Driver Coaching, which makes corrective suggestions if the driver brakes too hard, accelerates too quickly or exceeds the speed limit.
